Uh, OK.... I dont remeber making fun of anyones Mom. My statement was just an observation. In no way did I ever try to imply that the workprinter was over-priced, nor did I ever criticize anyone for their inovations. I am sure it probably kicks ass. I was simply trying to make the point that I got (am getting into)into Super 8 because I am a cheap ass. Crap, If I could afford a workprinter, I would buy one right away. I was simply trying to state that $400.00 was alot of cash for me.

Sorry....Next time I'll keep my comments to myself. No reason to get everyone's panties in a bunch.

    -Peace

A questionable observation, to be sure.

Sure you did. To buy it would be spending "money out the ass".

Which is why the WorkPrinter is such a good deal because it will allow you to save $400x10 easily. I mean, let's face it, if you're going to transfer to video, that initial $400 is going to be spent, one way or the other. If you aren't going to transfer to video, then there was no need to comment about a product that you had no need for.

Your comments are welcome. But don't think that you are immune to an unfavorable response if what you way is off base. While I can appreciate the need to be cost effective, it's a bit disingenious of you to claim that you weren't calling the WorkPrinter overpriced.

A lack of available capital on your part doesn't give you liscense to question the validity of my pricing when you also offer nothing as a substitute for the product. More to the point, if $400 is a lot of money to you then you'll be interested to know that my profit margin on these units is well below that. Believe me, I could make a lot more per hour on my regular gig as an editor doing film restoration so, in that sense, I almost take a loss on these units.

I created them to benefit the super 8 and 8mm community and, short of giving them away, I really can't lower the price any more and still cover my time building them.

Ok then, how do I order one of those things? Just kidding. I would love to have a Workprinter, if i could afford one. If you think I was being offensive, or trying to criticize your product or its price, then you are wrong sir. To me, paying 3.75 for a pack of GPC lights is paying money out the ass =).

My name was mentioned way up at the top. I just bought a WorkPrinter using PayPal and my free new Visa card. I noticed that 500 of credit was only costing me 6 a month. hmmmm. so what's 500 more? I went for it. Damn the interest torpedios, full speed ahead.

I have transferred enough 8mm movie film in enough different ways to know a great product when I see one. Telecine TC-20s two of 'em, rear projection screen, variable speed projectors, white or silver movie screens, tube cameras, Hi-8 video camera, digital NLE, I've done a lot of it. Local companies have other machines that I havn't even tried. DIY all the way man. This WorkPrinter puts me up in class to the local transfer pros.. I even used to transfer single frames at a time by jamming the mirror wheel tight and lifting the film over the sproket wheel to advance it onthe TC-20s. It worked great and looked much better than the normal mode. Took WAY long, however. Roger's machine does it automatically. It is exactly what is needed for NLE (non linear editing). For that you can go to Circut City and buy a outfit and not pay any interest for 6mo sometimes for a whole year. No reason to wait.

I asked Andreas if I could put up some more movies on his site. Those clips made one finger nail at a time would be really interesting for you all to see.
